TIEKS Critique: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Here’s an honest Tieks review! Is it the perfect little travel ballet flat?

This is part of a video series for #SSSVEDA (Vlog Every Day in August).

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Tieks shoes – leave me a comment and/or let’s talk on social (@KaitlinMoose).

  1. I got my first pair of Tieks about a month ago, matte black size 12. My niece and a friend highly recommend them, but the cost, yes they are spendy, kept me away. I was aware of the break in period, and yes they do need to be broken in. After about 10 wearings they became comfortable to wear all day. The shoes are well made. I wear them with no show socks and that seems to work well. Overall I am glad I made the purchase, but not certain if I will get another pair, at least not soon. The wife like the shoes, but does not want a pair due to the cost, and the break in time, but she is worth it, so I may still get her pair as well.

  2. I'm deciding on my first pair! I'm a true 10. I was thinking of the Saphire patent leather…! I heard they need to be broken in for the thickness of the leather? Hmm thoughts??

  3. I want to buy Tieks so much but I have bunions and I’m not sure it’s a good idea for the price. I wish I had a friend close that I could try them on!

  4. I have back, neck and knee issues thanks to a lovely fall down hardwood stairs and these are the only shoes that haven't given me any problems at all! I have 5 pair and ordering my 6th soon. I didn't have to break any of mine in and they all have been very comfortable. I found out about Tieks from my daughter who is a teacher and on her feet all the time. She found them from other teachers who raved about them. I normally wear a size 8.5 and all of mine are size 9. No slipping and no "farting"!! Love these.

  5. I own them. I think they are ok. I do not think they are worth the price. I find my sketchers to be more comfortable. They are cute but I do not see why with a big price tag they can not make half sizes or wide versions… a bigger size will not help my feet being wide. I am short my feet are short I need a wider shoe.

  6. I am also a 1/2 size I bought both sizes to test. Size down: YES! My feet farted too but I felt is was more of a quack
sound. I returned them because I could not imagine quacking around. On the larger size, they did not fit as snug as the smaller but I also got the patent. I really love them but everytime I think about trying again, I remember the farting

  7. Unless you have a thin foot, size up. Inhave classics, patents and a snake. In all I sized up. I've seen some look like tortured leather distorted sideways over people's feet, way too much toe cleavage and toes popping up in the toe box when they size down. Also, that noise you experience wont last if you sized up. I wear a 7.5 medium in shoes, I wear an 8 in Tieks.

  8. Here's something most customers don't know. Majority of the pair in the warehouse are returns from other customers. They only clean the bottom of the shoe and return it back to stock.

  9. My wife just bought a pair and the hand written note was the first thing I noticed. To me they make her foot look fat but she loves them. She already wants another pair…

  10. Honestly, if I got a free pair of $200 shoes, I’d give a good blog post too. I’ve seen all those good reviews, but I suspect what you did, so much sponsored!

  11. I think you might have got too small of a size. I researched and watched multiple videos including this one so was nervous about my tieks. I am a 6.5 and sized up to a 7 and have had no issues nor adjustment period – comfy from the start- no noises. I was worried about seeing comments about sizing up being huge and " stepping out of" – not the case for me – esp with the elastic on all sides , I find it hard to believe you could…I have only had for a few days , but I've worn them out to multiple places and no issues so far. I got the black matte ones and I am obsessed- already my fav shoes and worth it to me.

  12. Good video. To stop the top part from rubbing – use Dr. Scholl's moleskin padding (drugstores) to the inside toe-box part. Really makes life more comfortable.

  13. Definitely appreciate your non sponsored review! I'm also an 8.5 and purchased an 8…too small. Then I purchased a 9, way too big. Tieks were not for my foot. Gave them to my sister, who LOVES them! Oh well…

  14. I am always an 8 in shoes. Always. I ordered an 8 in Tieks and they pinch my big toe terribly. I wore them around the house for a couple of hours and they were fine so I wore them outside and they started hurting. They also make the top of my big toe red on the side. I should have worn them inside more with thick socks but I didn't know. I guess I will stuff them with socks when I'm not wearing them.

  15. I own 3 pairs. Got my first pair over a year ago. I'm normally a 10.5. So I bought a 10 originally. Had the same problem as you with the fit. I decided to exchange for an 11 and was super happy. They do make the farting noise. But I only notice that the first couple of wears and then it goes away. Never to be heard again. These are my favorite shoes, and so comfortable once you break them in. I'm about to buy my fourth pair.

  16. Lmao. I just got my first pair as a birthday gift. I️ was like why am i hearing a farting noise? Will that go away?! Great review. I needed a REAL review that didn’t just rave about them.

  17. GIRLS….don't so be so vain. Buy a half size or full size in this type of shoe even most flats. The reason you get rub marks is that the shoe is too small. You do not need to break shoes in. I AWLAYS have worn a 9 but bought these in a 10 and they were perfect…no digging anywhere…my feet did not look bigger…AND stop asking if there is arch support THESE ARE BALLET FLATS, not running shoes. Geez.

  18. Beware! My starstruck Tieks have a hole in the leather after only 5 months of minimal use and they don't seem to want to replace them for me! I'm devastated!
