OMGβ¦ another Polestar knock off. August.πππ
It appears it has serious charging limitations in cold weather. Also did you try charging beyond 90%? According M/T, that took several hours on the fast charger.in fact, overall charging was very slow.
Lets talk about the reality of this car. Awful range, Awful charging, awful styling. Decent first attempt however for a joint venture between Toyota/Subaru this is pretty bad. Nobody in an EV is going off-roading so those capabilities are completely irrelevant. Its like a half baked attempt at an EV and for a company like Toyota who pioneered the Hybrid drivetrain you would think this would be much much better!
I just added a lift kit and all terrain tires to my Subaru Crosstrek which is my favorite car that I have ever owned. I want my next vehicle to be a Subaru but maybe I might have to go with a Ford F150 Lightning. I don't know why they were so slow to go to electric. Ford seems way ahead of Toyota and Subaru.
Looks like a Mach E
I'm sure there is a hot market for off-road capable EV's. Not bad, however I've been hoping for better from Subaru but also from the reviewer because I was anticipating liking this video. I hope he knows what "wheelbase" is, because it sounds like he is confusing it with "track", using the phrase "wide wheelbase". Also there is no such word as "disingenuine", the word is "disingenuous". Sorry, but this review was almost as rocky as a mountainside washout. Cheers, regardless.
I really don't want a Subaru in a RAV4 costume.
"Despite a really quiet cabin, the steering is actually pretty tight."
What? That makes literally no sense whatsoever. Why would cabin noise be related to steering radius in any way?
this thing was supposed to be bigger than outback. This thing has no utility. When I trade in my ICE Outback I'm get an electric pick up because this is just pathetic.
This is an interesting model, especially for what you mentioned regarding off-road capability.
But the design being too close to the BZ4X and the fact that Subaru doesn't seem ready to jump fully into electrification, offering slow charging and short range, might push away a lot of Subaru enthusiasts to pick another brand for their "outdoor life" EV.
Great analysis, thank you for sharing! πβ‘π
I stopped watching.
I live in a world there feet, inch and so on is hopeless to understand.
The metric system is so much more spread – pls write down the equal number on screen every time you use the imperial ones
As mentioned in an other comment the European edition gets a 150 kw charging capability. There will be two different makers of the batteries so that might be the reason. In the same way tires are a compromise between various capabilities so are this car as well. No it is not the fastest charging, the one with the longest range, fastest acceleration, or lowest price. However by fitting it with a smaller battery and weaker engines they manage to reduce the weight of the cars and naturally the price. The most expensive part of an EV is the batteries. It is pretty average in most areas except off-road and for an average user the range is more than sufficient. As a practical car I think both Subaru and Toyota got it right. Yes,there are cars that are better looking and probably more fun to drive but they cost a lot more than the Solterra does. In addition both Subaru and Toyota have a reputation of building reliable cars. I donβt think the Solterra or the bz4x will be different. If you want more wait for the Lexus RZ 450.π
You have an issue about Kia calling the EV6 an SUV but don't have an issue of Subaru calling their ugly little station wagons "SUVs?? Subaru is suckage.
Why subaru engines fail

Well… it is ugly…
Too much fancy shmancy. I want a rolling box, not an abstract sculpture infested with electronics.
Great review but I always question just how many people [ever] take their so-called [SUV's] off-road other than when it's strictly necessary? Very few SUV's are actually live up to what their name suggests: Sports Utility Vehicles. They're cars pure & simple; a form factor & nothing more.
The European version of the Solterra gets 150kW charging and goes 10-80% in something like 19 minutes. Bizarre that Subaru and Toyota chose to sabotage their AWD electric vehicles.
Lots of good features and trail capability. Needs more range and faster charging!
Boo tax credit are non refundable too hard to get
Where's the drive we were promised? this was just a rundown of features
But their boxer engine is soooo superior to everything π
Jeep cherokee trailhawk has a Low range and rear locker ..
Will any of the Lectric folding bikes fit in the trunk? Toyotaβs tax credits are going to expire before Subaruβs do so between the two that will make Subaru a much better buy.
Wanting one of these hybrid or fully electric vehicles is one thing, but being able to buy one is another. In January, 2021 I placed an order for a Toyota Rav4 Prime. A month later the auto broker I dealt with informed me that the delivery schedule was pushed back to at least a year and possible two.
I cancelled my order and planned on purchasing a Chevy Bolt instead. Around the same time Chevy stopped producing the Bolt because of the massive battery recall.
I ended up buying a Ford Maverick.
