Generac GP7500E Consumer Review – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

This is a general overview and review of the Generac GP7500E electric start generator. I have owned this for about 4 months now and have been impressed with the power and performance. I use this generator to power our entire home through a transfer switch tied into our breaker box. The generator has no problem powering all of our essentials and more when needed. There have been some complications with the generator however that I discuss in the video. I do hope that this helps anyone out there looking to purchase a generator by giving a fair and realistic review of the product.

  1. I have this exact generator. Good machine but it is virtually impossible to get at the spark plug to change it. Any tips on how to do it is appreciated.

  2. I got one of thses during a power outage about 8 years ago. Like yours it ran everything I wanted run for 3 days of power outage =TV, lights, AC, refrigerator, etc. I was pretty happy with it. I have no idea what happened to the battery charger, but it sits connected in my basement to a 'smart' 1am charger and a 5 gallon Blitz can of (changed every 6 months) gasoline and a jug of Mobile1, so I know I am in good shape if another power outage comes.

  3. Honda man myself. Reliable, long lasting, safer to run unsupervised.
The castings are China I believe for Generac too I have Champion myself As well, which is my backup.
After buying my first Chinese generator, the pull cord assembly blew out after its about 30th start… that’s when I entered the world of Honda and Yamaha. You get what you pay for …

  4. how many ounces of oil?
it has the weird dipstick that just has hash Mark's on it no fill level.

I looked up the 420cc and it looks like 1.1L which is 37.5 oz.

but nothing is written on the generac site

  5. I have Identicle gen. It is extremely easy to pull start. If you have the rocker switch in the off position it is hard to pull start. I was wondering if you had power switch off when you tried to pull start it.

  6. Running it through your transfer switch cleans the THD enough where you can safely run sensitive electronic devices like router and computers?

  7. If you're not short of money, I wouldn't get one of these. A defect in the engine is one thing, but Generac's poor customer service honoring the warranty is unacceptable. Also, why tolerate the loud noise and rinky-dink battery charger when there are so many better-designed options? Also, there are too many stories of trouble in the comments below. Sounds like corners were cut in the design, and sloppy quality control in the manufacture of this device.

  8. I have the same exact generator. I just had it running for 6 days straight. Loud as hell, but works great. I put ply wood around it to cut down on the noise

  9. The portable generator market is pretty much bullshit now thanks to Harbor Freight and their China engine generators. Now everything has a China engine, some clone of a Honda 212cc or 420cc, but with lower quality materials and parts. You can't get generators with decent motors like Briggs or Kohler anymore, and hardly anyone is using Honda, unless you spring for a very pricey unit from a contractor brand like Wacker Neuson. That's why the engines are so finicky about proper break-in and lubrication.

  10. I have a gp8000e but the rebadged dewalt version essentiallysame machine as this, and with a $30 dual fuel carburetor from Ebay mine runs perfectly on natural gas or gasoline carb fits all the chonda clones duromax predator generac etc
