Today, we’re diving into a fun little experiment – testing out yarn and crochet notions from Walmart. I know many of us wonder if these budget-friendly options can hold up to our crafting needs. So, I picked up a few different yarns and some essential crochet tools to put them to the test. We’ll check out the overall quality to see if they can compete with some of the more expensive brands.

Sadly here in South Africa we dont have a Walmart, and can't easily get such variety yarns.
in warm climates it makes ok shawls.
if it can withstand a vinigar wash it will be ok
walmart has a little stuff but most is red heart yarn the original. if its not red heart with love i skip it
About the Peaches & Cream cotton. Its amazing for market bags. I love that it feels tougher than the Mainstays. I use the P&C all the time.
With regard to the Scrubbie yarn – you're right. It feels horrible when you work with it. I both knitted and crocheted it. Knitting is easier. The good thing about it is that it really scrubs dishes well. I don't have to work hard to get the dried food off, even on metal pans. For me, it's been worth the effort it took to make the dish cloths.
I live in a small town that has Walmart and not much else so shopping at Walmart for crochet is kind of a given. Going to something like Michaels is a big deal because it's so far away. I use Peaches and Cream all the time and I like it. I'm using it to make a striped blanket. Of course it's the only cotton yarn I really have access to because our Walmart doesn't have other kinds. So…
I like to grab yarn like that for learning a new stitch. The budget yarns seems to be a little stiff so and I find that easier to see the steps of making a new stitch. I know I'm probably only going to make swatches so the price is right. A bonus is that I can see how long the color changes need to be in the mixed color skeins to accent the different stitches.
That yarn works up beautiful when knitted
Peaches and Cream… horrible texture but it’s good for sewing amigurumi parts on! Super sturdy!
I love peaches and cream cotton for bags. Added: I made a duster out of peaches and cream and loved it. But a nephew liked it so he took it. I will make another one.
I wouldn’t buy a scrubby yarn if it was soft. 🤣
I am sorry that your disappointed in the steel hooks being so short ,but apparently you've never crocheted with steel hooks I am 72 yrs old and I have been crocheting with that size of hook for ever they don't make them any longer I have them from a size15 with small lids on them so the ends don't break for ever if you would like I could send you a picture !!!New here love your channel!!!❤❤❤God Bless you!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love all the multi colors.
I love the peaches & cream yarn is awesome for pot holders. It’s one of my favorites!!!

I just had your video pop up on my UTube. You have the same opinion on those yarns as I do🥰 I subscribed to you and hope I can find more videos🤗
It’s called SCRUBBY!!! It SCRUBS YOUR DISHES! The worst review I’ve ever heard.
You have to wash the aluminum hooks dry thoroughly and then I always use a cloth and polish them voila, no drag or stickiness😊
Peaches and cream is not for clothes or toys. It's for making dishclothes, scrubby pads, coasters etc. I use it a lot for heavier applications like the aforementioned. Doubled up it is useful for hot pads as well and for a variety of heavier things like tote bags.😊
Peaches and cream I use a ton for dish cloths and towel toppers
I made my mom a cardigan with the puzzlevyarn. It is FABULOUS
The peahes n cream is bad, it DOES hurt your hands so bad to make toys-AAVOID AT AL L COSTS IF YA CAN!
My wal.art is horrible. No new yarn ever
The scrubbing yarn is great for cleaning pots and pans. It can go into the wash. If you owe a loose stitch the food does not get trapped in it. I like it!
24:58 lol then there’s people like me still searching for the .4mm hooks for micro-crocheting lmao 😂😂😂
10:10 bc its meant for specific patterns especially uniquely structured dishcloths like i have a 3D rose scrubby i made for my shower and it doesn’t tear my skin up the way many store bought bath poofs do
The pioneer woman hooks are marked. You just need to know braille! Lol
You can feel it, not see it!
I think youre right about a non-crocheter making the big choices for this stuff!
Its the way you hold the yarn that made it hard to stitch peaches and cream. You need to be able to adjust the way you stitch based off some yarns. Its worth it to learn this!!!
Scrubby yarn looks like barbed wire.
I just bought a cone of the Peaches and Creme cotton to crochet a set of placemats for a gift, but after watching your review, it's going back to Walmart tomorrow! Thanks for the advice!
I consider myself a beginner at crochet. I just started learning in January 2025. I use the cheap yarn that I am not so fond of to practice with so I can get it right with yarn I like lol. I keep a thing of it for that purpose. I got some lion brand hometown yarn. Can't wait to use it! It is soft and chunky so I want to see if I can make a sweater and matching accessories with it.
I'm making an entire pull over hoodie with the peaches and cream stripey in the color way lavender meadow and it's turning out really lovely actually. Much softer than the typical peaches and cream cotton. Plus the color way is Walmart exclusive which is mixed, very cute but I need a lot for this project and it isn't always available.
Never had any problems with Peaches and Cream yarn. Makes good potholders and washcloths and stockings for Christmas. You must have very sensitive touch.
Peaches and creme is walmarts name for sugar and cream. Both have the same colors but with different names. It is from yarn inspirations. I love this yarn not meant to be wearable. It's a kitchen workhorse cotton. Makes the best pot holders/hot pads. Wears like iron, washes well and lasts forever. I have made over a hundred and people ask for these all time. I first made three for myself in 2008, use them all time and are still in great condition.
I crochet cotton yarn with the scrubby yarn to make a super scrubby dishcloth or exfoliator.
I love that scratchy yarn. I make it up with a cotton yarn. It is perfect for washing pots and pan, counters and more❣️It works nicely❣️
Scrubby yarn is not suppose to be soft, its for scrubbing dishes not dishcloths. I put a marker where I start a row and you can make your stitches come out. It is great. I use it all the time. I love it
I love Lion Brand 24/7 cotton yarn. For me its the best cotton yarn
Please just stick with her glass ware .I didn't like her yarns either
You only paid $19.97 for that awesome rack system? I checked Walmart and Amazon and it's selling for about $100 and $58 respectively (in Canadian dollars). So about $70 USD and $40 USD. Insane price increase.
Never mind, my bad. The price is still the same at Walmart in the US, so it's a Canada problem. We always pay so much more here. Might have to hop over the border to Blaine to get some deals.
