  1. BMW fandom is TOXIC AF, seriously one of the worst. Electric/tesla fandom may be the only thing worse. I love BMWs but kinda hate BMW people.

Amazing handling car all around, straight line and cornering, most were open diff so dont drift as well stock.
    Never AWD,
Dog shit cupholders, better iff wothout them
the v8 is very reliable for a german v8, but way less than an American v8
It is the easiest german car to work on.
Spinning out is a skill issue not a car issue.

Timing chain guides on the v8 is a well known issue, if they have been done then the car is good, if not then its a gamble. If the 540 is vanos equipt that is also a failure point.

  2. I own both
    E39 530i 2001 AT.
    Rakin pinion 👍
Believe it or not with Mr.Titanium I keep getting pulled over 😮

    Valve cover!
    Get a humidity trap
    Place it inside
    Avoid moisture dashboard
    rear AC 💧 🚿 🚰 530i
the AC lines got clogged it happens
window regulators yep!! I've owned it
    23 years now" both my
    Rear windows need replacing.
Under lateral plastic panels & splash guard
    Water reservoir these are pointless.
I've not replaced the vanos gasket
    But will eventually Beisan Systems
I've bought CPS sensors & will replace
No! I've not dealt with rear sear gas pump
    I believe once replaced
    Starter"
    All coils & spark plugs
    As maintenance!
    Twice Tie Rod ends
    Due for sure C-arms
97K miles The subframe is fine!

I due to my own paranoia just now had
    Connecting Rod Bearings replaced
    Barely" any wear
    lightly but
    It had to get done!

    Given the opportunity
    Replacing all gaskets

Will do both Vanos & Solenoids.
I did swap short shifter & allllll other works with tranny
    Including Eihorn aluminum thingies.
& new dual mass clutch plate

Im old school rather keep it as OEM as possible!
Got the carbon fiber lower plenum
    I'm stuck between
Should I first invest in getting headers?
    & @ a later date
    velocity stocks

    Juggling two E39

    E39M5 water pump
this is a WW2 German bullet proof made
    So Original waterpump & thermostat
Here's the top quality from these 2000 sturdy S62 engines

    The only down side
    I don't trust Recirculating steering
It feels like an old sedan de ville 1980's Cadillac
Not the sharp sedan handling from 530i

Always!!!! Do cover these cars! Keep them
    Protected from heat/ elements.

    Oh! The Keyfob
    I learned after 3 times
23 years dropping my keys Fkit!
Well a bad bad thing occurred
I literally gave the 530i a freaking lobotomy

So I had the non working 530i key on the same Key ring along with the Working Key's inner battery which belongs to Mr.M5 both spares together
I know I stuck the 530i no battery spare key in the ignition to turn it on. The Proximity of the 530i outer ignition ring who detects the actual car'skey
Apparently again due to the Proximity" it read the info from
    Mr M5's spare key
    It scramble my 530i
    Didn't want to start
Thanks God I had my scanner & reprogrammed it.

    Never ever place these
    Together"" near ignition outter ring

  3. The LCD display going out is´t a huge issue. The problem is a cable going loose due to poor design. A handy guy could fix this for 10$. If you go to a shop. they might take 100-200$. Not bad.

  4. E39 540xi would be an intresting car if it existed. e39 where never awd.
e39 cupholder? IF they came with a cupholder back in 2000, there probably broken many years back.

  5. You mentioned "The lower the trim level, the more reliable" This is not true at all, I've heard from countless of BMW enthusiasts that higher trim levels are often more reliable. And BMW's 4 cylinder cars are some of the worst engines to exist, since they pretty much always start leaking oil and mess up. While the 6 cylinders often hold up waaay better

  6. A poor analysis of one of the iconic BMWs, one of the best of all time.

The E39 was actually built until 2004 in its Touring form. The trim levels were SE, Sport, Individual, M, engine options WERE NOT trim levels. Nor were there any AWD versions on an E39. Basic analysis failures.

There were inline 6s from 520i to 530i petrol models and a 540i V8 petrol. Of course people from the USA miss that there were 3 diesels including the the 525d and 530d M57 engined turbo diesels.

The 530d in its facelift form has better performance than the 525i and the 530i only slighty shades the 530d, except in acceleration from 40 mph where the 530d is vastly superior due to its max torque delivery from 1750 to 4000 rpm.

The handling is a bench mark for other cars.

If properly maintained they are generally reliable and don't leak particularly the M57 525d & 530d engine models.

    A realy rubbish analysis.

  7. The Good:
    -Nice vid clips

    The Bad:
-missed an obvious ugly, which is 540 timing chain guides
-missed some very interesting facts of this car, including:
—-the I6 models were the first mass produced car with all aluminum suspension components and subframes…even the knuckles are aluminum
—-Rumored that BMW spent more time and money developing this car than any other model they've ever made
—-The multi-link rear suspension design was a huge step forward and still used in same basic configuration on current models 30 years later
—-Many automakers still continue to use this car for benchmarking ride and handling as part of product development
    -terrible towel

    The Ugly:
-e39 never had X drive! Cmon dude research harder
-Didn't have great handling?? See points above about aluminum for lower unsprung mass and revolutionary rear suspension design

  8. This guy knows nothing. The 2.5 L engine is 170bhp not 192. E39 and most BMW are famous for drifting and cornering. Handling is best of any car. There was no 2.3L engine so the x23s got 2.5L instead. Great car glad to see a video about E39.

  9. I've read some good things about the MPG on forums, even for the V8's. If you can keep your foot out of it, some have gotten high 20s even out their M5s. Keep it on cruise control around 70 on the hwy and supposedly you can average 27mpg.
