How Can a Customer Fight for Their Rights?
Every customer has the right to safety, information, choice, and redressal. But what can you do when these rights are violated? Here’s how a customer can fight for their rights:
Know Your Rights – First, be aware of your basic consumer rights — such as the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to safety, and the right to seek redressal.
Keep Proof – Always keep receipts, bills, warranty cards, emails, or any communication related to the product or service. These documents act as evidence if a complaint needs to be raised.
Talk to the Seller – In many cases, simply raising the issue with the shop or service provider politely can solve the problem.
File a Formal Complaint – If the seller refuses to help, you can file a complaint with: Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection
(Respective States)
Use Social Media – Tagging companies on social platforms like Twitter or Instagram often gets their attention quickly. Many companies take online reputation seriously.
Take Legal Action – If needed, you can approach a consumer court. These courts are specially set up to handle consumer disputes in a quicker and more affordable manner.
