Thus, musical work is giving music to the lyrics of the song. Composer of a song is the person who provides music to a song, and thus is the author of the music in a song. He can obtain a copyright for the background music in a song.

While Ilayaraja has some lofty demands.. there are a couple points 1) why didn’t the music director make his own music?? Not one or two, but three songs of 1 music director and more tunes from others have been used. You will re-use so much music and claim to be music director? Where is your skill? What did you take money for? The whole movie was modern reshoots of old scenes only. Atleast the music could have been fresh. 2) Deva is ok with others using his creations, Rahman is not ok with other using his songs, but recognises who owns the rights and simply expresses disappointment, Ilayaraja chooses the legal route. Everyone has their way of dealing with this practice of re-using/remixing music. You can’t expect everyone to have the same reaction or the same response. They are different people, with different sensibilities and approaches to things. Yes Raja claiming sole ownership of all music he has produced is an over reach, but so is using so many songs of other music directors in a single movie. And if he has retained rights of those songs, then why should he let others make money not just from using his songs, but also claiming music director salary … I am not taking Ilayaraja’s side here.. I do disagree with all these notices he is sending.. but unlike in the SPB concert scene or manjumel boys situation, etc, in the case of GBU, he seems justified..

Just imagine you are running your show a by others controversy in either good or bad . Even you are not doing something by your own . So please be thankful to someone who gave the content for you to survive . Do you have the guts to reveal in public about yourself what are the mistakes , fraud , fault ? controversy you created from your childhood to till now or from your family members , you won’t do right ? so always remember advice and guidance all applicable for others not for our own . When someone acting , directing , music composing all taking money from the producers and not applying their own thoughts then what’s wrong with Ilayaraja to claim some peanuts in it . ajith never so movies for their fans for free of cost , the same with music director and the movies director , so what’s wrong with ilayaraja , if he use those money or not for them money is similar to prestige . if deva and other says let others ca use thier song means it’s indirect way of seeking opportunity or the more simone use thier song then they will get the royalty more . understand everything from all point of view . I have a small doubt. After selling his songs to music labels how is he able to get money via spotify and other apps? So may be there is some law that says the music director has some percentage of rights to the songs? Can you chk on it?

1. Ajith so far in his films not needed Ilayarajas music in his films
Except one film in his early days that two with costarring Vijay.
Why you are going for Ilayaraja old hit songs. How much you are paying gor GV Prakash? Does he could not produce 3 songs as you like. Ilayaraja is a living Maestro. Please dont insult him. Only Ajith should speak from his conscience.
2. Deva is not that much talent to come near Raja. He could not shine in IR era. He is not having chances. But sings in Anirudh films. To get chance he is speaking as if he is very benevolent
3. If jayakanthan story is purchased for a film ny a producer whether he can claim that ownership is with me. It is only for that film. If anybody says IR had been paid salary for his film they are ignorant and idiotic

1. Regarding legal notice to SPB :
Finally what the court actually said? The SPB concert organizers had paid royalties to other music directors who are part of IPRS — but not to Raja sir. Why? Because they wanted to use his songs for free. That’s exactly why they picked more of his tracks over others like Rahman, who would’ve rightfully charged them heavily. Do people even realize Raja sir has composed for hundreds of films without taking a single rupee? He’s far more magnanimous than most of us could ever be. But tell me—how much can one person keep giving away for free, just to be taken advantage of by event organizers or SPB for their own profit? Is SPB giving the money from that concert for charity? In contrast, the royalty revenue from Raja sir’s copyrights is actually being used to support struggling musicians. Many of us know this, yet we continue to criticize him, as if we’re the ones doing the charity.
2. Regarding Deva sir's maturity and Raja sir's magnanimity:
I kindly request that we don’t compare Raja sir with Deva sir. Raja sir has composed for many films without charging a fee and he is so much Magnanimous than anybody else in this cine field. He has invested heavily in /help start music labels like Echo and many more. All he asks in return is that proper permission be sought before using his work. While Deva sir and others may benefit from additional reach of using their songs, Raja sir doesn’t need it and that’s why his songs are so widely used. Repeatedly using his compositions without consent, even after he has voiced his concerns multiple times, is deeply disrespectful isn't it? and spreading negativity on him is simply not right.
3. Regarding Attention seeking and atrocious — He may be known for his music, but he's far more than that — a master of Tamil venbas, an artist in photography and drawing. Do you even realize how many music labels he founded in the 80s? He produced numerous films and introduced directors like Mani rathinam and free music for first time directors like P.Vasu, Manobala, R.Surrendar and many more and built an empire. He has managed all this within the same 24 hours we're all given. Definitely he is not into attention seeking. He is extremly humble , please take back you calling him atrocious .
4.Regarding the ₹5 Crore: : Given his massive digital content, you’re well aware of the significant revenue generated from over 10,000 beautiful songs streaming worldwide. For him, this ₹5 crore is far from a priority. This demand carries a much deeper implication for the future.

AS far as I understand the rights of the songs are with the music label and the producers paid the music label and got NOC to use it. If Ilaiyaraaja has any problem he should approach the music label.
Without Ilayaraja's talent and effort, those compositions would first of all not happened. Using his compositions without paying him royalty but enjoying all the money received from using it, shows that the producers of the movie are picchaikarans not Raja sir. The music composer has all the rights to claim royalty for his own creation. Please note that copyright laws are still not very clear at the moment in India, so just imagine how it would have been in those times. Who knows, may be Raja sir was taken advantage of, at that time?

I feel so proud of deva sir and anirudh that way. The way Deva sir pridely took the reuse of his songs. And anirudh never takes payment when he is singing for other directors. Only his own productions and concerts he takes fees.
