A few months of heavy use with the R4251 12″ dual bevel compound miter saw from Ridgid, and I want to share an honest review! I know that there are going to be a lot of questions like:
-Is the R4251 the same as the Delta Cruzer?
-Does the R4251 have Ridgid’s lifetime service agreement?
-Is the sliding mechanism on the R4251 accurate?
-How do I change the blade on the R4251?
I’ll cover ALL OF THOSE and more in this honest review!

Mayonnaise compare that saw to the Bosch and Delta cruzer
Except for the color, this looks a lot like my Delta. As for whacking it, looks like Mallet Aforethought.
Mayonnaise. Any chance you can do a video on how to adjust and square. This particular saw?
Mayonnaise, you just answered most all the questions I had.? Couldn’t figure out why you bought any Rigid stuff like you did but you didn’t, Rigid gave it to you.🤫
Can you compare a Delta Shopmaster 12” sliding saw?
The music 😂, it sounds like cheap por . .n video
I watched the whole video, what did I win
Mayonaise… novice user that does minimal work, but looking for new ideas for cutting
Love how wood workers complain about sawdust in an enclosed area.
I got the Hercules 12" Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw last year for about $100 less, very solid saw compared to a lot of other brands out there.
Mayonnaise! I just came across your video. I recently unboxed and squared my Ridgid miter saw, identical to yours in the video, and I’ve found a couple issues. Left if the blade, the table has a high point in the center so it’s not coplanar. Putting a straight edge across it, it rocks left to right. When cutting material, the material also rocks left to right. I’ve never experienced that on a miter saw before. Also, with the left side square, the right side of the blade is out of square, both on the fence and on the table. Are you seeing the same issues on your saw? I reached out to Ridgid and they basically said this is normal, but he also said that planers can’t get wood flat, so I’m not putting much stock in his opinions. Thanks!
just buy the festool, you will never regret it…
Mayo, good vid. Did I miss where you talked about it being able to be set against a wall with out needing a hole for the bars?
What is the accuracy of this saw when it is locked down and not sliding? That is the important question? No sliding miter saw is accurate when sliding – but does it cut accurately with little to no deflection when locked down?
If you don't want sawdust find another profession.
Crazy.. just ordered the Bosch and I am seeing this. I wouldn't give up the Bosch (and the stand).. but interesting how this (and some cheaper china brands) are using a similar dual arm setup instead of the way most are on the sliding rods. Curious how it compares to Bosch (and Festool). Makes me wonder how they aren't "as good" given similar features. I'd have to imagine all saws including Bosch with this arm might deflect the same way? But maybe the Bosch having the arm on the side and one on top prevents that?
Mayonnaise God bless
Thanks god bless
Mayonnaise – what's the purpose of the support extension?
Ridged tools are not professional grade, great for hobbyists and homeowners, but not pros
Anyone have an idea why Ridgid discontinued this saw?
Mayonnaise. You mentioned that you would recommend this saw if you want to get good locked in angle cuts, but you have to remember that 1/8" of flex in the blade position is going to have a HUGE impact on the cut angle. Imagine trying to cut four 45 degree cuts for a picture frame or box and having EACH corner off by as much as 1/4" combined! And I can't imagine any situation where you can get away with a really sloppy miter cut if you're trying to do even mediocre work. I guess if you have enough caulk…
Mayonnaise. I would say that this saw isn't really good for anyone for all the same reasons you mentioned. If you're cutting material on a construction site that doesn't require extreme precision, that's probably going to be framing material, which isn't going to be more than 8". In that case, you're fine with a 12" non-sliding miter saw. Even if you need to cut something longer than 8" you could get away with using the flip method to get a combined 16" cut. If you're rough cutting anything longer that that, you should just saw a table saw, track saw, or circular saw.
IMHO miter saws are pretty much only good for cutting long narrow material like 2x4s that you don't need a ton of cut depth for. A 12" non-sliding saw with offer much more precision and should be all the cut depth you really need.
Mayonnaise you must have alot of money comparing ant affordable toll to festool is an idiot it's like comparing a vet to a Ferrari take in cost if it is reasonable I could make furniture cuts because you can't does not make it bad
I own a 120eb kapex and don’t have nearly that much deflection. The lower versions of festool aren’t as good as the 120
I think these days major brands are not what they used to be, I just use miter saw to help break down material, all of em are kinda rough with BS dust collection, my shroud I built collects most of it lol, I'm not impressed with Ridgid to be honest, I have the old TS3650 table saw and it's much better then the new one, but the fence is questionable, I have learned the fence so not really an issue for me, just a little under powerd…these vids I believe will help these brands fix their issues…I hope anyway…I have learned spend the money for quality and won't be long I'll have me a new table saw, just gotta spend the money people is the bottom line….
I was not gonna get it because of this video showing the deflection, but I bought it it has no deflection, cuts perfect. I did purchase the 10" so that might be the difference. But I think it's because of the blade size you get the wobble on the 12".
May naise….do you find a table saw or miter as more versatile???I have a Dewalt 10" table saw. And at first I loved it..but then my up and down for the blade locked up…the bevel cuts were redickaris to set accurately and consistantly…I'm not what I'd call wealthy so I'm fb shoppin on market place…idc if it's cabinet style or job site or a miter but I need up down and bevel for sure…and accuracy would be stellar…is there a recommendation of something to keep my eyes out for . Any advice would be awesome
I found a fix for this saw…The $219 price. At that price the shadow system makes it worth the purchase. I only use it rough cut jobs. I also go really slow not to cause any deflection. I will NOT use it for finish or anything that requires. I’d buy more of these if I could. My Dewalt 780 is for the detail work.
Mayo. I’ve been looking to get a sliding MS and haven’t found one that checks all the boxes. As a cabinet maker accuracy is vital. I like the Bosch except I don’t believe it has a laser or light cut line which is a deal breaker.
Choosing the right tool for the job is paramount. If someone needs precision down to the nearest 1/4 of a millimeter then no miter saw is for you not even the festool. All sliding miter saws have some play in them some more than others. There is also the issue of blade deflection. I still feel like a 10 inch miter saw has less blade deflection than a 12 inch saw.
Mayonnaise – This was a great watch. Thanks for the video!
