I bought one 4 months ago and love it. Retired and mostly don’t drive more than 25 miles a day so a tank lasts over a month. It has 9k miles and NO issues. Fun to drive and save so much on gas. ⛽️
After purchasing six Jeeps, this 4xe is my last.
My only problem with the Jeep Wrangler brand now is….they are no longer 'cool'. They are driven by alot of yuppies. They may as well have a Mercedes badge on them now. Kinda like how Tattoos used to be 'cool' and alternative (not mainstream). Once something becomes 'popular' it is no longer 'cool.'

If a brand new car around 30k miles is having all these issues I’d stay far from it. It’s mine boggling to hear her say this is my favorite vehicle. Heated seats great gas mileage 🤣 who are you fooling. It seems like you are a Jeep fanatic that drools over the jeep brand. Good luck on the vehicle though.
A family member just bought one and it has been the most unreliable hunk of junk there is. What people need to realize is that not only is this a jeep which are notorious for unreliability but this is also basically experimental. Stelantis is not known for their hybrid systems, you are buying a concept for the price of a finalized design.
I need to find a good therapist before I buy a stalantis product
Americans just don’t build good cars I would stay away from most American vehicles. Japanese is just superior. Get a 4Runner over this.
My daughter is leasing a 2024 and it has been in for recalls for updates and been told it’s going to take 3 days and no loner cars and had to go out and rent a car for 3 days and after she rents the car they call and tell her it’s ready. Now it’s in for the death wobble and they can’t get the parts to fix it and it’s another 3 days or better. These jeeps are unreliable and low quality made vehicles.
The instant heat is amazing
On a full tank of gas driving highway and streets combined, what is the average miles I can get via hybrid mode?
I have a 4xe you can hack the computer by adding a flux-capacitor, extra lithium battery and with a few bananas and a half can of beer to the gas tank, you can get 500 miles range on the battery.
I have a Honda Clarity plug-in hybrid and I have often charged next to a 4xe. My car is awesome in the summer but sucks in the winter. I basically have a mid sized Honda Accord powered by a Civic engine. If you have no torque being supplied by a full, warm battery you are screwed on the highway. I hope that Jeep didn’t make that design mistake. The car really looks great on the outside.
Just had a 24 4Xe Sahara as a rental, and honestly I liked it (kinda). The 4 cylinder was very peppy and quick, way more torque than my old 2015 3.6 Penastar. The 27 mile range EV system is a total joke, and the hybrid system is also very inefficient. The rest of the vehicle was well built, comfortable, and pretty luxurious for a Jeep.
Jeep build quality is very good, I had issue with My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland 4×4 2.0 liter engine.
Whe I purchased vehicle in 2020 with 8,500 miles I checked carfax I had noticed build date was June 2018 red flags because one of early productions, being new body style and new engine 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine with intercooled turbo.
After 2 years I got a error code of "Electronic throttle control" I had it towed to CDJR dealership and diagnosed problem was wiring harness that insulation was worn to point that bare wiring was preventing communication from throttle to Electronic throttle control computer jeep would idle, no throttle response.
Covered under Mopar warranty, I talked to technician at dealership I said sounds like build quality issue She said yes, Wiring harness going though metal chassis did not have rubber grommet installed, that why wiring harness failed.
Only issue I have had with the jeep now I have 43,000 miles I get 26.0 mpg combined.
Great vehicle would not hesitate to buy another Jeep, My boss owned 2 Wranglers likes shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive, first SUV I have ever owned.
I want to buy one, but I need a very important question answered. Is it possible to put the vehicle in neutral gear in EV mode (so the gas engine isnt running) and put a 60lb weight on the drivers seat and have the AC or heater on all night without the engine coming on to charge, assuming the battery is fully charged?
Jeep made dealers push these pieces of junk on the public in order for dealerships to get real jeeps.
I had an 18 JLUR but the stupid clutch recall they could never fix.. I genuinely miss my Jeep, but how they could screw up a clutch with no fix ever is beyond me.. I still think the most reliable version of this is the v6 and automatic transmission. I do though really want a 24 4xe
Of course you can’t blame the stealership they just sell these pieces of crap. The one you have to blame is Stellantis for making these shitty cars
Oh gosh i cant believe i almost choose this for a house away from home built to overland around the world
Great rewiew, thank you. I still haven´t gpt mine out on the road yet, because i´m sick, and have no hurry. So noe I am looking at ALL good reports of this legendary, most beautifull, most puposefull, most fun car that ever has been built, in my meaning, so far.
Yesterday I visited my car, got in to it, measured inside, for Having this as my own "little cottage", or for up to 4 peoples, whit a tent and a rack on the roof. with thule for bicykle on the back etc !!!!
I realy love the extra spirit this car gives me, from all back to ( for me ) 1970/ 71 ❤️🇺🇸 !!!
I told my mother, and her " Love of her Life"( EVENTUALY for her, after 77 yares of waiting for THE Prince 🤣), and the got SO happy.
The reason : They / WE got a cottage, that it`s hard to get up to when you´re getting old ( in Body ), they where thinking of fixing the road ( for aronf 100- 200´dollar, but when I said that, if we only cut some trees, it`s easy to get up whith a MY JEEP WRANGLER !!!
She and he ( My mother and "Father"🤣 ), got so realised and happy for this solution, when I said that I coul drive them up Whwn they NEED to visit this BEATIFUL placed Cottage 🌻
Thank U2, for your`s xtra spirit for me and others !!!!
TK🇳🇴
Now would you say it was worth the purchase? I’m looking to buy a used 4xe 2021-2022, and my commute in one day because of work and coming back home is a total of 75-80 miles. We have a charger at work that is free which I am stoked for, for when I purchase a plugin hybrid or fully electric vehicle. Even thought the estimated electric range is 21 for the wrangler, I am just worried about the maintenance and gas since I have noticed it only takes premium.
Good honest take. Glad you didn’t take the early bugs as a killer. It’s new tech and Jeep. Some of those bugs go with the territory.
NO THANKS! I will stick to the V6. The 4xe is too complex for just 25 miles on electric motors. But I understand why others would want the 4xe with the substantial torque and HP.
Have the 2024 models fixed these issues?
I have the 2024 Sahara 4xe, and after 3 weeks I got the "Service Charging System" error and the dealership is trying to figure out how to fix the issue 😢.
Thanks guys. Appreciate you sharing your experiences. 👍
I have the 2024 4xe Willy’s only complaint is the tires don’t do good on wet roads but don’t know about snow/ice but will find out soon but besides that it’s amazingly great vehicle and we love it period ,..z
I live in the california desert and my conventional jeep car battery gets pounded. I have to switch every 10 months or so. Does anyone know what the heat will do to these 4xe batteries??
Where did you get that fleece?
Good luck to you…liked and subscribed. My wife has had 3 Wrangler Rubicons in a row, and now has a 2024 Willys 4xe, with charging problems here at home apparently not related to the Jeep. Without charging, due to the huge weight, her mpg on gas is worse than on her Rubicons. She loves 'em; we DO have fun in our 1 week of off roading each summer on the beach at OBX, but I confess to being amazed at what a cult car Wranglers are. They simply are less reliable than almost any domestic vehicle, with a boatload of electrical system failures as well as mechanical problems. A complete apples and oranges remark, but I'll stick with Honda ANY day. Jeep knows how to build sturdy, flexible, rough 'n tumble vehicles, but they do NOT know how to build reliable vehicles, after all these years (and I've had Jeep dealer technicians fully agree). There is no excuse for these huge numbers of failures. My opinion is if you're really an off-roader, Wranglers make sense and then some, despite the absurd overpricing (the Willys was 62+k!). My sedate, refined, and reliable 2023 CRV Sport Touring hybrid is loaded, and 23-24k less. If you're buying one just because they look cool, but you don't off road, RECONSIDER. My wife loves her detachable hardtop, so she wouldn't consider a Subaru Outback Wilderness, which is not a rock crawler (but is fine for beaches)…but neither does my wife engage in such tomfoolery. She pays for it, so hubby has no imaginary veto power. Maybe the 22k extra is worth it for the waves on the highway. Sheesh! With a .47CD, you may get 21 electric miles in the urban cycle, but if you're pulling onto the highway with that kind of drag and weight, good luck! 😀
EVs are crap
Any trouble in the winter with electric?
I've read articles that say the 4xe does not work in electric only mode in colder climates. In fact, some 4xe owners are forming a class-action lawsuit against Jeep over the none-performance of some of its hybrid electric vehicles.
Great car to buy and drive and then lemon 😂😂😂
I really want a e-jeep, but it seems I’m stuck with my dated 4Runner.
April, question for you as I have been considering purchase of the 4xe for some time now. My daily work commute, one way is 20 miles. With the range of the 4xe, would it be more efficient being in hybrid mode for the trip to work and home, or running on electric to work and gas on the return? Is there a way to calculate what mpg I would be getting with a 40 mile total commute?
Wonder what they did to prevent carbon build up? The most reliable direct injection engines have both direct and port FI. Ford learned with their Gen 2 Ecoboost engines they needed the fuel to keep valves clean. Lexus had it at least a decade before that.
Does the 2023 have the same issues?
Thank you for this video! My husband just bought me a white Willy’s 4xe for Easter.
The front end creaking was the “cotter pins” not ball joints .. Super easy fix.
The charging system problem indicator was prior to the sudden loss of power notification. As mentioned, waiting for the update was smart. The recalls have been minimal. As mentioned the dealers have access to the technical hotline. So solving an issue is pretty seemless ..The 4Xe is nothing more than excellent .. his wife’s comments are spot on ! Power, mileage, fit and finish, overall value is fantastic .. the lease deal is amazing .. JMO !
